I'm using converter inside app, and i'm unable to get images. they are not copied into images folder. Using procmon i realized that this problem is causeb by lack of xcopy command runned at the end of conversion. I alreadd add network service account to administrators group, but it not help. Any idea how to solve that?

New Post: Access Denied

I see, that there is some problem with running xcopy from network user.

It's just not runned.

New Post: Access Denied

Welcom.

I have exactly the same problem.

I use converter in ASP.NET application, so i have to gave correct permissions to iis user (network service) to run this application.

I already add %temp% full permissions, but it still not working. Image files are not safed in created subfolders, becouse of lack of permissions. If i run application as administrator, then it's no problem, they are created, but with normal user, it's problem.

New Post: Access Denied

Hey Anand,

Good to hear from you.

I believe that the above problem is due to insufficient rights for the logged in user. Could you try giving %TEMP% folder write access for the user and try the same? The error typically is due to insufficient rights allotted for the user.

Do let me know how this turns out.

Regards

No matter where I put the exe file, it fails. I've also tried setting the destination directory to the C:\ drive, in C:\Users\Chris\Documents, in C:\Users\Chris\Downloads etc etc.

And by fails I mean that the xhtml file generates, but nothing is written to the word/media folder itself. The directory is blank and an access deined error appears in the command prompt. I'm almost certain that this means that the program fails when writing the images from the DOCX file to disk.

Any more ideas? I'm just lost on this one.

New Post: Images - Date Modified

Hi Leigh,

Please get the plugin files present at https://www.yousendit.com/download/Y1RwZGlvYXlnYU0wTVE9PQ (available till 15th Aug, 09)

The files you see in temp folder are extracted as it is from the docx file and are available to developers only for debugging purposes. Irregularities in these files are not considered as OpenXMLViewer tool issues.

I have a patch for you to make the timestamp appear. Unzip the file and replace the dlls in the appropritate folder depending on your browser.

Yes, I understand they are extracted from the document. But it seems a bit odd that a file date is not added automatically when the images are saved to the files ystem.

While it is certainly possible to do this manually, it is an extra step which detracts from what is otherwise a very easy to use program. What are your thoughts on this?

Good questions there.

1. I am afraid the application needs a fully qualified path to work with. We will look at this in the next release. For now, there can be 2 approaches possible.

        a. Wrap the OpenXMLViewer.exe with another application layer that will be able to determine the actual physical path and call the exe

        b. The C++ source code is available in the source branch. The code can be modified, built etc to get the relative path.

2. The file generated is <document name>.html / <document name>.xhtml. This can be used to get the respective file name. However for the images, a change in code may be needed. The current application uses the file names as stored in the docx. Hence it is possible that the image file may be overwritten in case multiple documents use the same file name and the files are extracted to the same output folder.

The C# code branch is not supported and is legacy code. Hence it may not function as expected.

Best regards,

Is this intentional? Maybe I'm missing something...

New Post: Using for SharePoint document conversion

Great utility! I've been trying the console application and it works really well. I've been considering using this utility as an alternative to SharePoint's document conversion service since it doesn't support embedded images (reason: it doesn't know where it should put them). I'd like to use OpenXMLViewer.exe to convert uploaded .docx files, but I have two problems:

1) There are no physical paths for the uploaded documents. I can get the web URI or the actual binary contents of a file, but not the physical machine location.

2) The html file is written to the destination folder and embedded images get outputted to a subfolder (word\media), but I need to get the file paths and names of the html file and its associated images so that I can upload them to a document library.

I was looking at the code and it isn't immediately obvious how I can do this. Hoping you can point me in the right direction to enhance the console app to do this.

Thanks.

New Post: Images - Date Modified

Hi Leigh,

The extracted images are what are stored in the document. You may need to manually "touch" the file to introduce the last modified date.

I have a small question about images (possible issue?).

I noticed on XP, the extracted images seem to be missing/or have an invalid "last modified date"? Is there a way to change that to the current date, as with the html file?
